We take our own photos whenever we can. But some of our trips happened long before this site existed, and some practical details (restaurants we ate at in 2022, hotel foyers, ladestop) we never photographed. For those we borrow from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons licences — and we always credit the original photographer.

If you took a photo we are using and we have not credited you correctly, please tell us and we will fix it the same day.

How we use borrowed photos

  • Wikimedia Commons (CC BY / CC BY-SA / CC0): we use freely, always with photographer credit and licence link.
  • Google Reviews / vendor press kits: only where fair-use review context applies, and only with explicit credit ("Photo: Google Reviews / [restaurant]" or "Photo: [vendor]").
  • Stock photography (Unsplash, Pexels): we do not use stock photography on Destination Lore. The site's photography is either our own or borrowed-and-credited from public archives.

Original photographers make our work possible. We don't take that for granted.
